The total production of sugar in Maharashtra is reported at 1.88 million tonnes, up 3.2% from the last year in the same year, while the total in Uttar Pradesh declined by almost 20% to 1 million tonnes as on date.
The spot prices of sugar in the major mandies of Uttar Pradesh such as Muzaffarnagar were trading in the range of Rs 3320-3370 per quintal, down almost Rs 20 per quintal in the last day.
